The Business Development Engineer at DEVELOP LLC is responsible for opening and closing multi-million dollar automation engagements, managing the sales pipeline, educating clients on automation, and coordinating with engineers and the founder. This onsite role is based in Verona, Wisconsin, with travel to client sites and trade shows.

Responsibilities
- Build credibility as a business developer and closer with manufacturing professionals who have deep experience on the shop floor
- Open and develop accounts; the founder expands them, with potential for expansion ownership as you mature
- Travel to trade shows and client sites; represent DEVELOP at 3 to 8 events annually
- Convert marketing qualified meetings into ongoing relationships
- Visit client facilities to observe lines and identify real problems; expect 30-50% travel time
- Listen and educate to uncover the underlying drivers behind automation needs
- Lead end-to-end roadmap and assessment engagements; sell, conduct on-site discovery, and present findings with engineering depth
- Sketch a 2D concept in meetings to confirm understanding
- Qualify and protect the pipeline using the BANT+S framework with honest scoring
- Maintain HubSpot with clear ownership, stage, and next actions for every deal
- Close primarily on paid scoping engagements or scoped machines; engineers provide technical depth while you bring the client
- Pass large, complex builds and strategic expansions to the founder; manage all other deals independently
- Build a book of accounts that grows year over year, with customers contacting you first
