Join Mitchell Companies in an onsite District Sales Manager role based in Leland, MS, where leadership and development are central to success. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Sales Representatives to execute business plans, reach volume goals, and broaden product distribution.
- Hold regular one-on-one coaching and team meetings to boost performance, provide feedback, and align efforts with company objectives.
- Collaborate with team members to set account targets, optimize route strategies, and enhance sales execution.
- Monitor performance using KPIs and sales analytics; develop action plans for underperforming areas.
- Support recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new sales personnel in partnership with HR.
- Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and design development plans.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to strengthen individual and team capabilities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts within the territory.
- Identify new sales opportunities, conduct business reviews, and lead execution of customer-focused strategies.
- Manage supplier visits, surveys, and ride-alongs in collaboration with Business Managers and other stakeholders.
- Approve and review timesheets for all direct reports in a timely manner and according to payroll deadlines.
- Ensure accurate submission of payroll-related data including incentives, bonuses, and commissions.
- Promptly report workplace incidents or injuries to HR and immediate supervisors by the end of the scheduled shift.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and execute sales programs, promotions, and initiatives across the district.
- Manage open territories, resolve customer complaints, and implement territory transitions as needed.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, competitor activities, and category growth strategies.
- Directly supervise a team of Sales Representatives and oversee performance management, development, and disciplinary actions in coordination with HR.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field required; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years in sales, account management, or a related field, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in the beverage alcohol industry (beer, wine, and spirits) is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of the three-tier distribution system.
- Proven track record of leading sales teams to exceed sales and distribution goals.
- Excellent communication, organizational, time management, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing market conditions.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM or sales tracking systems.
- Valid driverβs license and a clean driving record.
- Must meet company vehicle safety requirements, if applicable.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Regular travel within the assigned territory, including frequent field visits, customer meetings, and supplier ride-alongs.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
