What You’ll Own
As Vice President of Business Development, you originate, structure, and close third-party hotel management agreements across the eastern half of the United States. You serve as a primary growth engine by cultivating and maintaining relationships and partnering with the corporate team to develop proposals, term sheets, and hotel management agreements for full service and lifestyle opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Spend at least 75% of time sourcing, negotiating, and closing third-party hotel management agreements for existing full service and lifestyle hotels in key markets across the eastern United States.
- Convert customer inquiries into executed contracts and generate future and repeat business that contributes to company profitability.
- Identify and pursue new business sales opportunities using the company database, networking, exhibitions, and client entertainment.
- Generate business from leads and new contacts by attending face-to-face meetings to build lasting relationships.
- Determine requirements to enter new markets, including marketing analysis and devising and implementing a sales and marketing strategy across relevant market segments.
- Bid for and obtain new clients, prepare proposals, and ensure the company process is accurately completed for proposal completion and new business gains.
- Analyze and research potential growth and opportunities from existing clients and create a prospect list for targeting.
- Build a referral system through contacts, connections, and relationships.
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate third-party management contracts.
- Assess risks and rewards of opportunities and understand potential demand from multiple market participants.
- Network with hotel owners, brands, lenders, consultants, and other industry leaders.
- Attend hospitality industry events including owner conferences, investment conferences, brand conferences, and similar events.
- Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate for reporting.
- Ensure response documents are error-free, professionally represent the company, and address client questions.
- Support contract compliance through negotiation of company contractual and payment terms, ensuring understanding and acceptance.
- Work without constant supervision, with flexible working hours including some weekends to meet business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5-10 years of experience in a similar role with a hotel management company or brand
- Excellent personal presentation skills and professionalism
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- Ability to work as both a team member and a team leader in a teamwork environment
- Ability to process new information quickly and respond appropriately to change
- Strong analytical skills, including experience solving real-life business problems
- Demonstrated ability to use spreadsheets to manipulate large amounts of data and produce meaningful analysis
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Solid project management skills, including independently managing multiple projects
