Terranea Resorts is offering an onsite Leisure Sales Manager role in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, supporting leisure room sales across 582 guest rooms, suites, casitas, villas, and bungalows. You’ll build relationships with key travel partners and help drive measurable revenue through both proactive sales work and on-property client interaction.
Compensation includes a base pay range of $80,000 to $95,000 per year, plus sales incentives. What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with travel advisors, agency owners, consortia program managers, and influencers to drive leisure room sales.
- Identify opportunities to increase market share and support RevPar Index growth.
- Support strategic direction and tactical execution for leisure sales, including client tours, proposals, and guest stay assistance while based on property.
- Conduct property tours and maintain strong property knowledge to represent the resort effectively.
- Draft newsletters and e-blasts, and organize direct mail and other marketing pieces.
- Respond to email inquiries and calls, create comprehensive proposals, and customize client itineraries in a timely manner, including follow-up emails or calls.
- Understand and use in-house reporting to track travel agent and wholesale booking activity; make outbound solicitation calls and track sales activity.
- Forward potential resort sales leads to the appropriate departments (for example, Group and Catering leads).
- Maintain a leisure database and logs for arrivals and sites.
- Work cross-functionally with other departments (including Front Desk, Concierge, and Housekeeping) to ensure hosted clients and industry guests receive exceptional experiences.
- Answer incoming calls in less than three rings in line with resort quality standards, convert callers to bookings, and generate the highest revenue possible, including offering and booking ancillary revenue.
- Handle reservation standards by recording proper booking information and assisting guests with pre-arrival calls and requests, including anticipating needs for ancillary bookings.
- Represent the Leisure Sales department in meetings and assist with additional departmental needs as required.
- Train, coach, and develop leisure coordinators, and support short- and long-term goals related to interpersonal development and departmental improvement.
- Provide timely guest feedback to revenue leaders and operations; receive and handle guest complaints and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Interface with Accounting as needed for billing and commission issues, and maintain a neat, clean, and safe work environment.

- Knowledge of luxury travel trade industry and strategic account management methods, plus advanced business planning acumen.
- Extensive network of travel industry contacts.
- Minimum 3 years experience as a manager within a resort Sales & Marketing department, preferably within a four or five-diamond property.
- College graduate or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong customer service aptitude, budgetary and fiscal responsibility understanding, and familiarity with operational areas of the resort.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and balance multiple commitments simultaneously.
- Professional appearance and readiness for extensive travel and entertainment.
- Must be able to travel 1 to 2 times per month or as required by business demands, both domestic and international.
- Ability to deliver presentations to large groups in-person and virtually; experience using Microsoft tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with Opera PMS and Agency360 is desirable.
- Must be able to respond to government regulations covering business operation and make business decisions based on production reports and similar facts.
