The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) is seeking a Senior Director to lead the Resiliency Center's government-focused business development, advancing the resilience of the global pharmaceutical supply. Based in Rockville, Maryland, this onsite role works closely with the Chief Resiliency Officer and the Resiliency Business Unit Team to elevate USP resiliency programs with government partners and other key stakeholders.

Overview
The Senior Director will support USP’s efforts to strengthen the resilience of the global pharmaceutical supply of quality medicines. This position reports to the leadership of the Resiliency Center and collaborates with the RBUT, a cross-functional group spanning USP capabilities, to develop and execute a business development strategy that increases the visibility and adoption of USP resiliency programs with United States Government customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the Resiliency Center government engagement plan.
- Coordinate across USP to move opportunities through the business development funnel.
- Leverage and coordinate an external network of consultants and firms to support meeting RC business development objectives.
- Create and implement a tactical cross-selling plan with RBUT program owners to maximize stakeholder engagement opportunities within the US government and other key groups such as health systems.
- Track business development outcomes by establishing mechanisms to monitor lead generation and cross-selling results that inform the ongoing business case for the Resiliency Center.
- Regularly participate as a member of the Resiliency Center Business Unit Team (RBUT), which includes resiliency solution owners and cross-functional resources in government advocacy and external engagement.
- Identify opportunities for new solution offerings by applying deep knowledge of USP capabilities and USG priorities.
- Provide input and targeted support for stakeholder engagement events and plans, ensuring alignment with USG priorities and amplifying USP asset visibility and uptake.
- Contribute to thought leadership programming to reflect business priorities and resonate with potential customers.
Requirements
- MBA or related degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or B.A./B.S. with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive network of contacts in the government contracting space, especially with agencies interested in pharmaceutical supply and quality, such as HHS (including ASPR, ARPA-H) and DoD.
- Demonstrated success in government business development and contracting with measurable growth for organizations.
- Proven experience developing and managing partnerships.
Additional Preferences
- Life sciences degree (chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical science, etc.) preferred.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing and/or supply chain.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management abilities.
- Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity.
