Job Description

Aubuchon Hardware is hiring a hands-on Lumber Sales Manager for an onsite role in Springfield, VT. This position is designed for someone who can build relationships in the market while keeping day-to-day yard and delivery execution aligned with sales commitments. The work blends outside sales, estimating, yard oversight, and vendor partnership, along with coordination across store and yard teams and occasional time on projects.

What you’ll do

Build and maintain a sales pipeline through proactive outreach, job site visits, and contractor relationship development.
Meet with contractors, builders, and homeowners to review projects, interpret plans, and prepare material quotes.
Complete accurate take-offs for residential and light commercial work.
Provide quotes that meet pricing and margin expectations.
Recognize upsell opportunities and suggest alternative products.
Maintain consistent follow-up to close sales and support long-term contractor relationships.
Oversee yard operations to keep materials organized, accessible, and aligned with sales needs.
Coordinate delivery scheduling and yard workload planning with yard and delivery teams.
Operate or supervise yard equipment use as needed, including forklifts, flatbed trucks, and Moffett equipment.
Conduct yard inventory counts at least four times per year and keep stock levels accurate.
Monitor product movement, margins, and purchasing needs to support sales goals.
Stay current on top-selling SKUs and seasonal demand trends.
Work directly with vendors on product selection, buybacks, and new product opportunities.
Evaluate stock levels and recommend adjustments based on sales performance and contractor demand.
Review sales performance, gross margin, and departmental expenses.
Use PL data to guide purchasing, pricing, and sales strategy decisions.
Provide feedback on market conditions and competitor activity.

What you bring

5+ years in lumber, building materials, or a related construction sales role.
Strong estimating skills, including plan reading and take-offs.
Experience managing yard or delivery teams.
Experience working with vendors and negotiating product opportunities.
Experience with inventory management and purchasing decisions.
An existing contractor or builder network in the market.
Understanding of lumber product categories, seasonal demand, and market pricing trends.
The drive to create a daily pipeline rather than waiting for inbound demand.
Comfort representing the business in the field and at events.
Organized, persistent, and optimistic approach to work.
Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days.
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.
Comfort working in an animal-friendly environment (accommodations available upon request).

Salary: USD 80,000 per year
