The Area Sales Director for Chronic Therapies leads the sales team within a defined geographic region, developing and executing the chronic therapies sales plan while ensuring alignment with the organization’s national objectives.
Job Description Summary
The Area Sales Director is responsible for shaping and implementing the chronic business sales plan in coordination with peers and senior leadership. The role oversees sales, marketing, and business development activities in the designated area and requires close collaboration with other Area Directors and the Vice President of Chronic Therapy Sales to ensure cohesive planning and execution.
Compensation
Salary: USD 145,568 - 242,591 per year.
Responsibilities
- Attain all sales performance and activity targets across therapies within the assigned geography.
- Provide training, coaching, development, and supervision for the chronic therapies sales team.
- Shape and oversee the implementation of the chronic therapies sales plan.
- Plan, forecast, and manage Area resources, including staffing, budget, and key initiatives.
- Act as an active member of the chronic business sales leadership team and cross-functional groups to represent field perspectives.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard the chronic therapies sales team in the area of responsibility.
- Maintain high visibility with the Area's chronic therapies sales team through field days and participation in regional meetings and conferences.
- Foster team spirit and enthusiasm to maximize impact on chronic sales through effective verbal and written communication.
- Develop and enhance the sales presentations of the chronic therapies team and lead by example in generating new business.
- Collaborate with the Market Access team to identify and implement Area pull-through opportunities.
- Partner with Operations to build strong relationships with branch management, ensuring sales efforts are supported by branch services and aligned with capabilities.
- Collaborate with acute therapies sales leaders to ensure a coordinated approach to customers.
- Identify Key Opinion Leaders within the Area and cultivate relationships to leverage their influence strategically.
- Identify and develop partnerships with targeted physician group practices.
- Lead the recruitment and management of Advisory Board Members within the Area.
- Work cross-functionally to develop and implement the Ambulatory Infusion Suite strategy in the Area.
- Establish and nurture relationships with Professional Medical Societies in the Area and craft strategies to drive results.
- Identify opportunities and build relationships with targeted Patient Advocacy groups to enhance business outcomes.
- Monitor Area trends across industry, market, competitors, and sales to tailor plans that maximize opportunities and address issues.
- Develop expertise in local market dynamics and the complex disease states served by Option Care Health services.
- Provide input into the chronic therapies field sales team compensation plan.
- Monitor and manage sales activity to maintain focus on priority offices and accounts.
- Ensure all Area employees comply with Option Care Health policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of recent in office-based physician sales leadership experience with a proven record of success.
- High school diploma and at least 6 years of recent in office-based physician sales leadership experience with a proven record of success.

Travel Requirements
Willing to travel at least 60 percent of the time for business purposes, within state and out of state.
Preferred Qualifications & Interests
- MBA in Business Administration with at least 10 years of pharmaceutical or healthcare sales experience.
- Previous home healthcare experience.
- Participation in task forces or initiative teams demonstrating impact beyond immediate span of control.
- Background in selling to Neurology, Gastroenterology, and/or Allergy/Immunology specialties.
- Understanding of billing and reimbursement procedures for medical offices and hospitals (Commercial Insurance, Medicare Part B & D, Fee for Service Medicaid, Managed Medicaid).
