Area Sales Director, Chronic Therapies
Job Description
Option Care Health is seeking an Area Sales Director for Chronic Therapies in Itasca, IL (onsite), with a salary range of USD 145,568 - 242,591 per year.
Responsibilities
- Meet or exceed all geographic sales targets and activity goals by therapy.
- Coach, develop, and supervise the chronic therapies sales team within the area.
- Design and drive the chronic therapies sales plan for the region.
- Forecast and plan Area resources, including staffing, budget, and key initiatives.
- Contribute as an active member of the chronic business sales leadership team and cross-functional groups, sharing field perspectives.
- Source, interview, hire, and onboard the chronic therapies sales team in the assigned territory.
- Maintain high visibility with the regional sales team through field days and regional meetings or conferences.
- Foster team spirit and enthusiasm through clear verbal and written communication to maximize impact on chronic sales.
- Enhance sales presentations and lead by example in securing new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with Market Access to identify and leverage Area pull-through opportunities.
- Partner with Operations to strengthen relationships with branch management and align sales with branch capabilities.
- Work with acute therapies sales leaders to ensure a coordinated customer approach.
- Identify Key Opinion Leaders in the Area and cultivate relationships to leverage their influence.
- Develop partnerships with targeted physician group practices.
- Lead recruitment and management of Advisory Board Members within the Area.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement the Ambulatory Infusion Suite strategy in the Area.
- Build relationships with Professional Medical Societies in the Area and implement strategies to drive results.
- Identify opportunities and engage with targeted Patient Advocacy groups to boost outcomes.
- Monitor regional trends across industry, market, competitors, and sales to craft effective plans.
- Maintain expert knowledge of local market dynamics and the complex disease states served by Option Care Health.
- Contribute input to the field sales team compensation plan for chronic therapies.
- Track and manage sales activity to focus on priority offices and accounts.
- Ensure all Area employees comply with Option Care Health policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years in office-based physician sales leadership and a proven track record; or a high school diploma with at least 6 years in office-based physician sales leadership and a proven track record.
- Results-oriented mindset with demonstrated coaching and development abilities.
- Ability to lead, manage, and grow a high-volume, high-dollar business.
- Motivation and leadership skills that create a positive, collaborative environment driving team success.
- Strong data analysis skills to identify issues, trends, or exceptions and drive improvement.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and initiatives.
- Experience building lasting relationships with high-potential accounts and key opinion leaders.
- Understanding of financials and P&L management.
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
- Willingness to travel at least 60 percent of the time (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications & Interests
- MBA in Business Administration with at least 10 years of pharmaceutical or healthcare sales experience.
- Experience in home healthcare settings.
- History of contributing to task forces or initiative teams with measurable impact beyond immediate scope.
- Background selling to Neurology, Gastroenterology, or Allergy/Immunology specialties.
- Understanding of billing and reimbursement procedures for medical offices and hospitals, including Commercial Insurance, Medicare Part B & D, Fee for Service Medicaid, and Managed Medicaid.
