The position focuses on showcasing the hotelβs curated, design-forward experience to corporate, tech, creative industries, associations, and upscale social groups.
Overview
The Senior Group Sales Manager serves as a strategic revenue driver for The Jay Hotel, a modern, design-forward property in a premier San Francisco location. The role concentrates on securing high-value group segments while differentiating the boutique luxury experience through personalized service and curated design.
Responsibilities
- Solicit new and existing accounts to meet revenue targets through phone outreach, outside calls, site inspections, and written communications.
- Generate advanced revenue in rooms, banquets, and room rentals by directly pursuing opportunities through proactive prospecting, presentations, contract development, negotiation, and closing.
- Maximize revenue across all hotel offerings by presenting all facets of the property to past, current, and prospective clients, both verbally and in writing.
- Manage account details so solicitation and closing steps are fully documented; coordinate cross-departmental involvement in servicing accounts.
- Develop and deliver persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
- Prepare for meetings and entertain clients as appropriate based on potential business from the account.
- Communicate clear direction to all hotel departments to ensure high-quality service to customers.
- Prepare correspondence, internal booking reports, and file maintenance.
- Participate in daily business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training, and other sales-related gatherings.
- Attend trade shows, community events, and industry meetings.
- Maintain advanced knowledge of market trends, competition, and key hotel clients.
- Adhere to attendance policies and be available on a regular basis.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 3+ years of sales experience is preferred.
- Experience at a hotel of similar size and quality.
- Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi.
- Advanced knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and peer motivation.
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations and the competitive market.
- Ability to execute appropriate action plans.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to pitch in and assist coworkers.
- Knowledge of hotel operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs, personnel and labor relations, business planning, maintenance, budget forecasting, quality assurance programs, hospitality law, and long-range planning.
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and meet goals.
- Ability to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate.
- Concise, well-organized written communication.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
