Michigan CNC Tool Inc. is seeking an Industrial Sales and Business Development Manager to expand a Michigan machine shop’s customer base in conveyor and material-handling related automation industries. This is a true new-business development role focused on prospecting, generating RFQs and quotes, and building long-term account relationships while coordinating with estimating and manufacturing teams.
Role Focus
The position supports growth by developing a pipeline of companies that need a dependable domestic machining supplier. The primary target market includes conveyor manufacturers, material-handling companies, warehouse automation, sortation and fulfillment equipment, robotics and robotic integrators, industrial automation companies, machine builders, OEM equipment manufacturers, and packaging machinery companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a targeted prospect database
- Identify purchasing, sourcing, engineering, and ownership contacts within target accounts
- Make outbound cold calls
- Conduct targeted email and LinkedIn outreach
- Research prospective customers and their applications to support outreach
- Schedule customer meetings
- Generate new RFQs
- Follow up on every quotation and opportunity
- Re-engage dormant and previous customers
- Develop long-term relationships with new accounts
- Work with estimating and manufacturing teams to develop opportunities
- Maintain accurate CRM records
- Attend customer visits, trade shows, and industry events
- Track activity, opportunities, quotes, and new business
Required Qualifications
- Comfortable prospecting and pursuing new business opportunities
- Confident communication with business owners and purchasing managers
- Understanding of B2B sales
- Persistence with follow-up

Additional Position Context
This role involves complex industrial customers rather than commodity selling. Michigan CNC Tool Inc. has experience supplying demanding customers across multiple industries, including GM, Stellantis, and DLA Defense Primes. The company is AS9100 certified and ITAR registered, and it uses robotic automation in its own manufacturing operation.
Manufacturing experience is a plus. The role does not require candidates to be machinists, and training on the company’s capabilities is provided.
