Job Description

Overview

Responsible for supervising retail activities and assisting in the development and implementation of management and policy matters in the retail department in line with organizational objectives. Provide leadership for a designated number of Goodwill Industries stores to generate profit and support the mission of Goodwill Industries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide management, supervision, and leadership to assigned store locations.
  • Assist in training store management staff.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly sales analyses and take appropriate action to keep sales aligned with the annual objective.
  • Support recruiting efforts, conduct interviews, and recommend personnel actions including hiring, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary actions while maintaining confidentiality of employee records.
  • Assist in establishing, implementing, and evaluating operational policies for retail sales activities.
  • Analyze and control expenses to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Ensure stores follow the Processing and Merchandising systems processes, including grading, pricing, stocking, pulling, and returning merchandise, in accordance with the design and consistently.
  • Implement a customer service program focused on customer satisfaction and ongoing patronage.
  • Maintain compliance with department and company policies and procedures across all retail locations.
  • Ensure security and safety policies and procedures are followed in all stores.
  • Report to the Donated Goods Department all repairs needed at buildings and equipment.
  • Investigate customer complaints and comments and take necessary action.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards to protect Goodwill’s property and financial affairs from theft or damage.

Abilities and Skills

  • Understand the philosophy of Goodwill Industries and participate fully in its programs.

  • Work under specific instructions.

Education and Experience

  • A four (4) year college degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of management plus multi-store experience is required.
