CRH’s Americas Materials business is a leading provider of building materials across North America. Aggregates, asphalt, ready mixed concrete, paving, and construction services play a key role in building critical infrastructure. Position Overview

Lead and oversee the sales department to maximize sales of targeted products including aggregates, hot mix asphalt, and construction services. The primary focus is to identify opportunities and drive sales growth. This role also develops new accounts and maintains relationships with key accounts to achieve company goals for price and profitability, as well as volume and market share.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the Virginia business unit’s strategic plan
  • Develop, establish, and monitor sales department policies, procedures, practices, and expectations aligned with company objectives
  • Coordinate with operations and production to ensure quality and quantity meet customer expectations
  • Oversee the recruitment of sales personnel
  • Create clear development plans for all personnel reporting to you
  • Provide team members with latitude to perform their responsibilities, define roles and expectations, and monitor progress
  • Complete associated administrative tasks including forecasting, budgeting, and required corporate reporting
  • Track and manage construction activity in the territory proactively
  • Understand existing product specifications and recommend opportunities
  • Identify issues that may impact product supply
  • Represent the Virginia business unit on industry-related committees and associations
  • Monitor competitor activity, communicate insights, and recommend necessary actions
  • Build effective customer relationships through quality products, services, and value

  • Proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Qualifications

To perform the job successfully, an individual must complete each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree (or equivalent) from a two-year college or technical school, or
  • Two to four years of related experience and/or training, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Skills

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills

  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs

Reasoning Ability

  • Solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization
  • Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
