Join Sysco in Jessup, MD as a District Sales Manager and lead a high-performing team of Sales Consultants. As part of the role, you will guide the district to deliver Sysco brand results, support national campaigns, and expand service channels for customers through technology enablers, value-added services, and team selling. A continuous improvement mindset around technology, sales skills, soft skills, and product knowledge is essential, supported by CRM and Sysco 360 to optimize planning, prospecting, and daily customer interactions.
Responsibilities
- Manage the performance and development of Sales Consultants (SCs) within the district.
- Provide one-on-one coaching and direction, averaging 3 to 5 SC work-withs per week.
- Lead and facilitate Friday district meetings to educate, inspire, and drive behavior changes that boost sales.
- Direct Customer Engagement efforts by enabling SCs to offer expanded service channels (technology enablers, value added services, and team selling).
- Maintain a continuous improvement mentality around technology, sales skills, soft skills and product knowledge.
- Leverage Sales Support resources and tools to maximize the consultative time of the SCs.
- Fully utilize the CRM for SC sales planning, prospecting, and daily customer engagement, and promote productive use of Sysco 360 across the district.
- Deliver Sysco brand results and directly manage conversion opportunities within the district.
- Support and promote all national campaigns and promotions.
- Provide coaching, training, and timely feedback to develop consultative selling skills (The Sysco Way to Sell).
- Utilize CMP and QPP Processes to coach the performance of all sales colleagues in the district.
- Execute territory planning and management effectively.
- Prioritize independent relationships with top customers and high value prospects.
- Champion company initiatives and implement center-led strategy within the district.
- Fulfill additional sales management responsibilities, including other operational duties and customer relationship management.
- Utilize Sysco CRM, Sysco 360, CMP Process, and QPP Process to support district goals.
Requirements
- High School education required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- 2 or more years of experience successfully growing profitable sales in the foodservice industry.
- 5+ years of foodservice sales experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to derive insights from others through probing questions and collaborative problem solving.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to execute multiple initiatives autonomously.

- Ability to use Sysco's proprietary CRM for planning and forecasting sales growth.

- Communicate and collect accounts receivable as needed, coordinating with the credit department and client per approved terms.
- Manage deliveries to the routing schedule published by the transportation department.
- Troubleshoot issues during the order process, such as stock and special order items.
- Participate in company functions, promotions, customer visits, and events.
- Attend and contribute to general sales and district meetings.
- Review and analyze daily and weekly reports including special order requests, customer bid files, and gross profit data.
- Perform administrative duties such as budgeting, reporting, maintaining records, processing credits, and preparing quotes and menu suggestions.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions and assist with training of new employees as requested.
