Job Description

In this onsite Business Development Associate role at Pillar Construction Inc., you will drive growth for prefabrication by managing the revenue pipeline and identifying prefabrication opportunities. The position is focused on early engagement that turns into qualified, winnable work, while you act as a primary point of contact through pursuit to contract close.

Role Overview

The Construction Solutions Associate for prefabrication is accountable for leading multiple prefabrication pursuits, developing and benchmarking business development strategy, and maintaining backlog through new business. • Develop marketing and business development strategy, benchmarked to monthly, quarterly, and yearly targets.
  • Attend industry events and meet in person with interested parties across the real estate and built environment value chain, including Owners, Architects, and GCs.
  • Build and maintain deep relationships with Precon managers, project executives, senior PMs, design leads, technical architects, Construction teams within sponsors, and owners’ representatives or consultants as applicable.
  • Drive early-stage engagement that produces qualified, winnable prefabrication opportunities, rather than focusing on meeting volume or general networking.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients from pursuit through contract close, ensuring satisfaction while generating leads and closing new work.
  • Prepare and deliver pursuit updates, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Proactively shape pursuits before bids, positioning prefab as a solution to real job constraints including labor, schedule, and logistics.
  • Allocate pursuit budget effectively across marketing and business development expenses.
  • Maintain and assess return on investment for relevant pursuit costs.
  • Identify opportunities to commit resources that support the broader aims of the prefabrication business.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction with interest in transitioning into a client-facing preconstruction and business development role.
  • Prior experience in the Washington Metro Area and Virginia is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect technical scope with schedule, cost, and constructability in early conversations.
  • Understanding of assemblies, sequencing, and prefabrication constraints.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with owners, Architects, and GC precon teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
