Business Development Associate

This is an early-stage role designed for people who enjoy prospecting, thoughtful communication, and learning directly from founders as the sales motion takes shape.
Location: Chicago, IL / Dallas–Fort Worth, TX (remote)
Compensation: USD 61,400 - 87,000 per year
Employment: Full-time | Entry-level
What you’ll get to do
- Prospect and build pipeline by reaching CFOs, controllers, and accounting leaders at mid-market construction and manufacturing companies.
- Get out and meet people through in-person visits to company offices, cold calls, and sending personalized emails to start conversations and book qualified discovery meetings.
- Own your research by identifying promising companies and decision-makers, using tools like Apollo and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
- Write outreach that earns responses by crafting personalized messages that make busy executives want to talk.
- Join the discovery calls you book, follow how deals progress, and learn how to close by working directly with the founders.
- Help build the sales playbook by testing new approaches, sharing what works, and shaping the processes future reps will use.
- Bring customer insights back to the team to influence product and strategy.
Requirements
- Recent graduate or early-career professional.
- Background in business, marketing, communications, finance, or a related field is a plus, but not required.
- Comfort striking up conversations with people you’ve never met and making them engaging.
- Enjoyment of walking into an office, introducing yourself, and turning cold outreach into real relationships.
- Curiosity about how businesses work, what problems people face, and how to solve them.
- A preference for clear, human communication over corporate-speak and buzzwords.
- Drive to be great at what you do, not only meet expectations.
- Resilience that makes “no” a prompt to adapt and try the next approach.
- High ownership through spotting opportunities, taking initiative, and following through.
- No previous SaaS sales experience required.
Compensation and benefits
- Competitive base salary plus uncapped performance-based commissions
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
