Director, Medical Business Development
Job Description
Stratasys is looking for an experienced leader to drive global growth in medical business development for its 3D printing solutions serving healthcare customers. Based onsite in Minnetonka, MN and reporting to the Vice President of Medical, this role owns the strategy and execution behind go-to-market initiatives, with the goal of expanding sales momentum across the US and European medical markets.
What you’ll do
- Find and capture new opportunities by identifying and targeting global market areas, then building strategic partnerships with medical manufacturers, healthcare providers, and key industry stakeholders.
- Operate as a self-driven hunter, proactively spotting business opportunities and solution fit, and coordinating cross-functional execution through Sales, Marketing, Product, and R&D.
- Build and grow executive relationships with medical OEMs and hospital networks, including leading new product introductions through commercial readiness, targeted customer engagements, certified channel enablement, and post-sale feedback tracking.
- Own the business development lifecycle from initial prospecting and relationship building through negotiation, contract closure, and onboarding.
- Lead market analysis and opportunity assessments including VOC analysis, trend tracking, competitor benchmarking, and technological gap analysis with strong command of US and European markets.
- Collaborate closely with Product Development, R&D, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Assurance to keep market demand aligned with medical solution offerings.
- Stay current on technology development, regulatory requirements, reimbursement policies, and medical device industry trends.
- Build and maintain an executive-level network of decision-makers across medical device and hospital sectors.
What you bring
- 10+ years of progressive experience in international business development, global strategic sales, or commercial leadership within medical device, healthcare technology, or digital health.
- Deep, hands-on familiarity with the US and European medical markets, medical manufacturing ecosystem, and hospital environments.
- Demonstrated experience with indirect channels, including working with distributors by identifying, recruiting, and engaging new sales channels (a plus).
- Proven ability to work with strategic accounts and execute multi-year growth programs.
- Success partnering with cross-functional teams (product and sales) to define innovative market and customer opportunities.
- Working knowledge of medical product development lifecycles, regulatory pathways, and medical quality standards such as ISO 13485.
- Track record closing high-value, complex international agreements and driving scalable revenue growth.
- Experience selling capital equipment and managing accounts of $30M+ per year.
- Hunter mentality with the ability to operate autonomously and drive execution through diverse corporate teams.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with influence across C-level executives and global cross-functional partners.
- Experience in direct management of employees.
- Additional strengths: international employee experience (a plus), strong organization and urgency, leadership to coach and motivate, excellent presentation, and strong curiosity and trust building.
- Ability to work under pressure and in uncertain environments, with extraordinary program management and data and analysis skills.
Travel: Up to 40%, with global travel needed to support strategic accounts and international partnerships.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or Business Administration. MBA or advanced degree is a strong plus.
