Job Description
Advanced Technology International (ATI) is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead business development pursuits, evaluate new opportunities, and develop proposals and partnerships. This role supports senior leadership as a strategic advisor and thought leader to help drive growth through innovative business pursuits.
Role Overview
The Director of Business Development leads ATI’s business development efforts by building organizational understanding of ATI’s vision, strategic priorities, people, capabilities, and core industry needs. The role directs the Business Development team to advance those initiatives across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a strategic business development thought leader who drives concepts and campaigns aligned to company initiatives.
- Develop and lead ATI’s pursuits, business proposals, and solutions.
- Increase ATI business through new opportunities, partnerships, and relationships, including both new and existing engagements.
- Conduct market research to identify new opportunities.
- Create new pursuits to expand current offerings and identify and target new business development opportunities.
- Facilitate and execute effective interfaces with internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee competitor profiles and business intelligence reporting.
- Lead the proposal development process.
- Develop and implement annual business development goals and objectives.
- Track business development resources and recommend optimal allocation of time and expended funds.
- Prepare business plans and facilitate presentations and customer meetings.
- Assist with training, coaching, and development for ATI employees who have business development duties or responsibilities.
- Partner with the Executive Leadership Team and department or division leads to identify, develop, and execute strategic projects, including leading cross-functional teams to meet time and budget requirements.
- Support measurable deliverables for Executive Consultants (EC) and provide recommendations regarding additions or subtractions to the group.
- Develop and lead execution of the annual corporate engagement plan, including ATI participation at expos, symposiums, and speaking engagements.
- As necessary, attend and represent ATI at relevant events.
- Identify new relationships and develop strategic engagement plans to elevate ATI’s profile and increase the potential to win new business.
- Assist with development and execution of ATI strategic initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of directly related experience, or a Master’s with 6 years of directly related experience in capture leadership, business development, program management, and/or engineering roles demonstrating deep understanding of the Department of Defense (DoD), Other Transactional Authority (OTA) industry, or other related government experience.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Prior experience in business development and/or program management.
- Experience responding to requests for proposals (RFP) and preparing proposals.
- Ability to provide in-depth briefings to executive-level audiences, both written and verbal.
- In-depth understanding of the federal budget and procurement process.
- Strong computer skills including Excel and the MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project desired).
- Ability to travel at the discretion of ATI.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen by birth or naturalization.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance and successfully pass a background check to access sensitive information and automated systems.
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans and process improvements.
- Excellent writing and editing, and strong verbal communications skills.
- Solid leadership skills, strong business acumen, and ability to lead change.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and ability to quickly identify key issues and areas of need.
- Self-starter who can work independently and create and implement new initiatives.
- Must successfully pass a background check to access sensitive information and automated systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with government programs.
- Prior military or government service.
- Prior experience in R&D acquisition and familiarity with research and development sponsors within DoD and outside DoD.
Location and Work Model
This position is hybrid remote in Summerville, SC 29486. Candidates will need to reside near Charleston, SC to ensure work site flexibility. The role may include attending meetings in technology company environments.
Anticipated Salary
$170,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
