The Sales Director - In-Home Sales at Cupcake Home Improvements leads the in-home sales function, builds and mentors the field team, and drives key performance metrics to support rapid growth in the Austin market.
Role Overview
The role focuses on assembling and guiding a high-performing in-home sales organization, coaching field representatives, and delivering on defined revenue and efficiency targets through a structured sales process.
Responsibilities
- Build the team by recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retaining a growing cohort of sales reps while maintaining our standards as scale increases.
- Onboard and ramp new reps through a structured training path that covers entry, discovery, home inspection, urgency building, product demonstration, pricing, closing, and objection handling, with early field check-ins to ensure ongoing support.
- Own the team's metrics, including revenue per appointment, demo rate, close rate, and appointment attendance, with regular reviews against company benchmarks.
- Coach in the field by riding along on appointments regularly, with initial coaching during a rep's early solo engagements and ongoing guidance to prevent surprises in formal reviews.
- Administer the existing compensation plan accurately, uphold performance standards, and ensure reliability expectations are met.
- Maintain accountability through early conversations and consistent application of the coaching process when targets are not met.
Requirements
- Proven sales management experience, with a track record of leading a team and owning their results. In-home, direct, or other high-accountability sales backgrounds are ideal; home improvement or contracting experience is a plus but not required.
- A builder mindset with experience recruiting, onboarding, and ramping reps, and the energy to stand up a team.
- Coachable and system-first, able to adopt a proven process without rebuilding from scratch.
- Field coach rather than desk-centric, with regular ride-alongs in homes and the ability to teach from firsthand experience.
- Numbers-driven, comfortable with performance dashboards and holding team members to clear targets.
- High personal standards of reliability, professionalism, and integrity.
