Sr Business Development Manager
Job Description
Join the Southern Regional Development team in Austin to drive regional growth for utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage through market intelligence, portfolio management, and strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead internal analysis and produce materials supporting strategic decisions, market intelligence, competitive assessments, and internal approvals for project gating and investment
- Identify emerging trends and risks across target markets, then develop action plans to address them
- Create strategic rationale that supports internal approvals and project gating decisions
- Drive origination and optimization efforts, including management of M&A development due diligence
- Develop reports and dashboards to track progress against business goals and OKRs
- Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to align market assumptions
- Forecast and communicate upcoming regional approvals and obligations to leadership
- Coordinate regional budgeting and forecasting activities, ensuring QA/QC of inputs and producing budget reports
- Implement strategic tools, standards, and best practices across the development organization
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree in Business or Energy Policy preferred
- Minimum 7 years of work experience applicable to renewable energy infrastructure, preferably in ERCOT, SPP, or MISO
- Demonstrated history of communicating with executive leadership
- Strong interpersonal skills, including managing internal and external customer relationships
- Strong organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables
- Ability to multitask while working independently and as part of a team
- Motivated self-starter with goal orientation and strong problem-solving capabilities
- Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Responds well to direction, easy to challenge and develop, and coachable
