Director of Business Development
Job Description
Texas State Oil, a Fort Worth-based oil and gas company, is hiring a Director of Business Development for a hybrid role with strong exposure to capital partnerships and senior leadership. You’ll be the connector behind our investor outreach engine, pipeline development, and relationship-building efforts, partnering with executives through regular updates and day-to-day coordination across deal flow and networking.
Location: Fort Worth, TX 76114 (hybrid). Ability to commute: Fort Worth, TX 76114 required. Work location: in person. Compensation: $100,000 to $120,000 per year.
What You’ll Own
- Lead the capital-partner pipeline end to end, including sourcing, leveraging intros from your own network, follow-through, and ensuring deals and partnerships are presented to company executives.
- Balance deal support with outreach activities, including event and network planning, CRM hygiene, and managing leadership’s calendar and communications as priorities shift.
- Coordinate and schedule networking events, industry conferences, and investor meetups to keep the pipeline active.
- Provide regular updates to senior leadership based on pipeline progress, outreach activity, and deal status.
- Support additional projects across deal flow, fundraising, and operations as needed, with the role defined by what requires attention rather than a fixed task list.
- Handle confidential financial and investor information with discretion.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Economics required.
- CRM Savvy is a must.
- Oil & gas background is preferred, not required.
- Adaptable generalist who can move between strategic and administrative tasks without needing direction.
- Already knows how to network and brings an existing book of business or an established network of investor and industry contacts.
- Fast learner with a thick skin, comfortable with ambiguity and a shifting task list.
- Strong personality: confident on the phone and in person, including the ability to connect with people beyond a resume.
- Oil & gas and energy exposure is a plus.
Education & Experience Notes
- Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Economics required.
- Finance experience: 1 year required.
- Oil & gas: 1 year preferred.
- Cold calling, prospecting, sales: 1 year preferred (each).
- Education: Bachelor’s (preferred).
