Job Description

The Director of Business Development within MountainStar Healthcare’s Surgery Ventures Group (SVG) is responsible for identifying and pursuing transaction opportunities, then translating them into business cases for major deals. The role partners with physicians and leadership to evaluate Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) acquisition and de novo development options, supported by financial modeling and deal structuring.

What you’ll do

  • Identify and pursue transaction opportunities to create and evaluate business cases for major SVG transactions, including de novo development, acquisitions, and significant partnership deals.
  • Partner with HCA leadership in the SVG and within selected markets in the Gulf Coast Division to pursue attractive ASC acquisition and de novo development opportunities.
  • Build relationships with physicians and management teams at targeted ASCs, working toward negotiation and execution of Letters of Intent for de novo or acquisition transactions.
  • Analyze potential targets for acquisition or development, assess the propriety of each opportunity, and develop initial offers and proposals for senior management review.
  • Coordinate with the SVG SVP Business Development, SVG VPs Business Development, SVG leadership, and HCA corporate and divisional leadership to gather market intel and identify high priority targets in the Southeast market.
  • Prepare pro forma financial statements and valuation models for all development project types.
  • Work with Facility Planning, Construction, and Real Estate teams to evaluate and recommend facility options for de novo projects.
  • Collaborate with corporate Finance and Treasury to evaluate and recommend financing alternatives.
  • Work collaboratively across all levels of personnel within the SVG and the broader HCA organization.
  • Travel significantly, at times up to 60%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 7-10 years of professional experience, with some healthcare experience working with physicians preferred.
  • Relevant financial acumen and/or development experience.
  • Prior experience working with ambulatory surgery centers or similar healthcare facilities preferred.
  • Ability to make presentations to physicians and senior management.
  • Ability to formulate initial deal structures suited to a wide variety of scenarios.
