Director of Business Development

The Director of Business Development within HCA Healthcare’s Surgery Ventures Group (SVG) is responsible for sourcing and pursuing transaction opportunities across ambulatory surgery centers, including de novo development, acquisitions, and significant partnership transactions. The role supports business case creation, evaluation, and stakeholder collaboration across physicians, SVG leadership, and HCA corporate functions.

Role Overview

The Director Business Development (SVG) identifies and pursues transaction opportunities to create and evaluate business cases for major initiatives, including de novo development projects, acquisitions, and significant partnership transactions. This position regularly partners with leadership across SVG departments, local hospital markets, and HCA corporate functions such as Business Development, Legal, and HR. Surgery Ventures, powered by HCA Healthcare, jointly owns with physicians and operates more than 150 centers across the United States.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with HCA leadership within the SVG and in selected markets in the Gulf Coast Division to identify and pursue acquisition and de novo development opportunities for Ambulatory Surgery Centers.
• Work with physicians and management teams at targeted ASCs to build relationships that support negotiation and execution of Letters of Intent for de novo and acquisition transactions.
• Analyze opportunities to acquire or develop new ASCs by assessing the propriety of each potential target and preparing initial offers or proposals for senior management review.
• Partner with the SVG SVP Business Development, SVG VPs Business Development, SVG leadership, and HCA corporate and divisional leadership to gather intelligence on transaction leads and identify high priority targets in the Southeast market.
• Manage preparation of pro forma financial statements and valuation models for all development project types.
• Coordinate with Facility Planning, Construction, and Real Estate teams to evaluate and recommend facility options for de novo projects.
• Coordinate with corporate Finance and Treasury teams to evaluate and recommend financing alternatives.
• Work collaboratively with all levels of personnel across the SVG and the HCA organization.
• Travel as required, at times up to 60%.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, or Work Experience in lieu of Degree.
• 7 to 10 years of professional experience; some healthcare experience working with physicians is preferred.
• Relevant financial acumen and/or development experience.
• Prior experience working with ambulatory surgery centers or similar healthcare facilities is preferred.
• Ability to make presentations to physicians and senior management.
• Ability to formulate initial deal structures appropriate for a wide variety of scenarios.

Location and Compensation

• Location: Denver, CO (onsite)
• Salary Range: USD 154,980 to 254,800 per year
