Business Development Advisor – New Business (Finance)

Job Description

The Business Development Advisor – New Business (Finance) is based in New York, offering hybrid work options. The role supports the BD team in producing high-quality proposals, win themes, client messaging, credentials, and RFP responses, coordinating with internal resources and preparing client presentations from the New York office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead information gathering sessions with BD teams and partners to clarify requirements, client needs, and strategic approach.
  • Conduct kick-off meetings to establish messaging, milestones, and the core project team.
  • Collaborate with BD teams, lawyers, and firm resources to gather information for credentials statements, pitch documents, and RFP responses.
  • Analyze pitch request documents to identify compliance requirements, instructions, evaluation criteria, and manage related response tasks.
  • Coordinate with other administrative functions within the firm, including the finance, pricing, and compliance teams, as well as the Inclusion, Opportunity & Community Committee (IOC) and the Office of General Counsel, to ensure alignment and information sharing.
  • Protect and maintain highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and proprietary information handled by the firm.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum of six years of relevant experience managing and leading strategic initiatives focused on developing credentials, proposals, tenders, or other written sales tools, as well as crafting BD strategies and winning proposals.
  • Minimum of eight years of relevant work experience in a legal, financial services, or professional services environment, or within an organization operating in the assigned sector(s), when applicable.
  • Familiarity with structured finance, project finance, leveraged finance, and capital markets transactions; ability to articulate deal structures and key terms in pitch materials, track market trends, and source and present credential data from providers such as Refinitiv, Bloomberg, or Dealogic.
  • Ability to tailor pitch content for diverse audiences including financial institution clients, sponsors, borrowers, and development-stage companies.
  • Knowledge of pitch processes and proficiency with pitch management tools.
  • Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated capacity to perform well in a high-pressure environment using critical and analytical thinking skills.
