Job Description
Join Baker Tilly Advisory Group, LP in New York City as a senior Business Development Director, a leadership role focused on accelerating growth across the firm’s Tax, Assurance, and Consulting practices within the Technology sector. This onsite position offers a competitive salary range of USD 155,000 to 291,650 per year, up to 50% travel, and the opportunity to work within a collaborative culture supported by Baker Tilly’s global network. You will build and expand client relationships, identify new opportunities in software, SaaS, AI, AgTech, FinTech, CleanTech and related tech ecosystems, and contribute to delivering measurable outcomes for clients and the firm.
Responsibilities
- Understand and confidently communicate the firm’s industry service offerings and their applications to technology stakeholders across the ecosystem, including Software & SaaS, AI, AgTech, FinTech, and CleanTech.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of how technology markets and venture capital interact, including the lifecycle of technology, funding stages, and the players involved (venture capitalists, angel investors, corporate venture arms, etc.).
- Build, maintain, and grow relationships with technology and venture capital professionals, entrepreneurs, fellow investors, incubators, and industry experts for insights and opportunities.
- Monitor emerging technology trends to identify potential opportunities for the firm in the technology sector.
- Serve as a Value Architect and promote Value Architect behaviors across activities and engagements.
- Generate a client-facing pipeline and lead or participate in client pursuits, including discovery, presentations, pursuit strategy, and proposal development.
- Develop a comprehensive sales plan for the assigned territory and provide weekly progress updates to senior management.
- Identify and leverage the right support to understand client needs, represent Baker Tilly effectively, and close deals, including technical, recruiting, executive, and marketing support.
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients through regular, open communication; monitor consultant performance and address issues to ensure satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the Business Development Manager to achieve sales goals and provide direction to the assigned BDM for campaigns and initiatives.
- Negotiate service agreements and statements of work with clients.
- Maintain rigorous CRM discipline in Salesforce, documenting opportunity notes and activities to maintain an accurate pipeline as per firm guidelines.
- Provide weekly sales updates to senior management and contribute to strategic planning for future territory alignment as the business grows.
- Be prudent with travel planning and client entertaining to maximize value while managing costs.
- Ensure high client satisfaction on each engagement and stay informed about Baker Tilly’s core competencies, consultants, and project history to represent the firm effectively in communications with clients and prospective clients.
- Represent Baker Tilly in sales meetings, conferences, tradeshows, and user group meetings as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- 10+ years of experience in technology-focused industries or in professional services supporting these sectors (for example, accounting, law, management consulting, municipal advising, etc.).
- Experience selling or delivering tax, assurance, and/or consulting services within technology-driven or IT environments.
- Excellent sales skills with a proven track record of achieving KPIs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with internal Partners, senior management, and stakeholders at varying levels.
- Driven, ambitious, and results-oriented with a strong desire to succeed.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to travel up to 50% as needed.
- Proficiency with Salesforce (CRM) is required.
