Business Development Manager
Job Description
Lead new clean energy growth efforts by building opportunities, shaping outreach campaigns, and aligning cross-functional teams to support revenue expansion.
Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and cultivate new business opportunities in the clean energy sector.
- Create and run strategic plans to expand market presence and drive revenue growth.
- Lead or contribute strategic direction for BD outreach and development campaigns, including proposals, presentations, and client/partner/investor pitches.
- Ensure BD and proposal materials are compelling and consistent with Willdan infrastructure and energy solutions.
- Partner with Operating Company leadership and operations teams, plus Marketing, Sales, and Finance, to collect inputs, align strategies, and support business development goals.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients and partners.
- Maintain regular communication to understand evolving needs and deliver tailored solutions.
- Monitor industry trends, competitors, and emerging clean energy opportunities.
- Translate market insights into the development of new business ventures.
- Travel as needed, up to 30% (typically in waves for specific pursuits), including domestic and potentially international travel for meetings, conferences, and industry events.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, sustainability, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years in business development or high-stakes company leadership, preferably supporting energy and/or engineering services.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage complex proposals, timelines, and stakeholder input across all organizational levels.
- Skilled at synthesizing different perspectives, building consensus, and driving decisions.
- Experience across full lifecycles of proposal development and/or project management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.

Compensation
- USD 105,000 - 140,000 per year
