Sales Manager
Job Description
Exclusive Furniture is hiring a Sales Manager in Houston, TX to lead the store team and turn day-to-day execution into measurable sales results. This onsite role is focused on building a customer-centric, fun, and engaging culture while managing sales, merchandising, and store operations across the full business.
The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of retail management experience, with furniture experience preferred, and be able to coach associates while using performance indicators to drive actions on the floor.
What You’ll Do
- Provide leadership to the entire store team and set the tone for a customer-centric, fun, engaging culture
- Direct store-wide selling, merchandising, store maintenance, expense management, shortage prevention, and sales support activities
- Develop associates through coaching, follow-up, and recognition, including building a team of executives and associates
- Evaluate financial and business indicators, translate data into actionable insights, and use them to drive results
- Demonstrate desired behaviors for the team, including driving sales, managing difficult or complicated sales, cash management, inventory, and customer follow-up
- Maintain awareness of retail market trends and what is forthcoming
- Manage stock levels and make key stock control decisions
- Analyze sales figures and forecast future sales
- Communicate merchandise needs to the Director of Operations and visual needs to the District Visual Manager
- Ensure standards for quality, customer service, and health and safety are met
- Update colleagues on business performance, new initiatives, and other pertinent issues
- Tour the sales floor regularly, engage with colleagues and customers, and identify or resolve urgent issues
- Monitor customer initiatives and track local competitor activity
- Coach direct report managers using weekly Scorecard metrics
- Celebrate and recognize individual and team success
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of retail management experience (Furniture experience preferred, 2 years)
- Strong listening skills plus written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret instructional documents, including reports and procedure manuals
- Ability to influence at all levels and work effectively within a team while being assertive in management strategies
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Understanding of key metrics such as sales, profitability, shortage calculations, and retail math
- Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to set objectives and goals and organize work to meet and exceed goals
- Ability to perform work that involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, and standing
- Standing for at least two consecutive hours
- Lifting at least 50 lbs
- May occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders
- Optical abilities including close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
- Strong sense of urgency, enjoy meeting and interacting with customers, and a thirst for learning
- Comfort using computers and frequent use of basic office equipment
Compensation and Schedule
- Salary: USD 80,000 - 115,000 per year
- Job type: Full-time
- Work location: In person (Houston, TX onsite)
- Work hours: Flexible scheduling and availability for retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays based on department and store needs

Weekend availability: The role requires weekend work with schedules of 9-9 on Saturday and 10-7 on Sunday, plus 2 days during the week. Application includes a question about your ability to work weekends.
