Job Description
In this Business Development Consultant role within Caterpillar’s Excavation Division (EXD) Aftermarket Business Development team, you will help drive strategic growth for Excavation Services. The position uses an entrepreneurial, data-driven approach to align the aftermarket portfolio with customer needs, market opportunities, and cross-functional initiatives.
Role Location and Schedule
- Location: Peoria, IL (onsite)
- Work setup: Full-time position based in the Peoria, IL office
- Onsite requirement: Five days per week onsite
Compensation
- Annual salary range: USD 128,470 - 192,710
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Customer Solutions, NPI, and Engineering to align the aftermarket portfolio with customer needs, industry trends, and regional growth opportunities.
- Evaluate competitive dynamics, market trends, and unmet customer needs to identify risks, opportunities, and strategic gaps.
- Turn voice-of-customer insights, competitive intelligence, and market data into recommendations that help shape the aftermarket strategy roadmap.
- Support Customer Solutions and dealer needs across Core regions.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with sales, marketing, finance, operations, and product support teams to align priorities and drive execution.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience working directly with Caterpillar dealers, preferably in a field-based role.
- Aftermarket experience in marketing, commercial, or business development functions.
- Strong customer orientation, including the ability to understand customer challenges and develop practical, value-driven solutions.
- Ability to analyze data, identify insights, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Creative, forward-thinking problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Flexibility and willingness to collaborate, influence, and lead change with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence across functions.
