Job Description

The Connecticut Hospital Association is seeking an experienced Business Development Director to grow revenue for the ChimeNet business unit. This hybrid role in Wallingford, CT focuses on sourcing and converting new opportunities, strengthening relationships with customers and partners, and ensuring proposals and account strategies are aligned with both operational capacity and financial goals.

What you’ll do

  • Drive ChimeNet’s business development by identifying, qualifying, and pursuing new opportunities, maintaining an active sales pipeline, and converting prospects into new or expanded customer relationships that support CHA’s strategic and financial objectives.
  • Develop and manage sales, marketing, and business development activities supporting short- and long-term growth, including market research, prospect outreach, pipeline management, portfolio review, proposal development, pricing coordination, and contract support.
  • Increase market presence by preparing outreach materials, coordinating customer and prospect meetings, creating follow-up communications, supporting product and service updates, and helping implement sales tactics to grow market share across hospitals, physician practices, schools, municipalities, and other target markets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with decision makers and influencers in targeted accounts; monitor account activity and dashboard metrics, update customer information, and help identify or escalate delivery dates, cost concerns, or other deliverables that may be at risk.
  • Partner with operations to review customer needs, assess project risks, follow up on open items, and keep business development efforts aligned with operational capacity and financial goals.
  • Collaborate with the technical team on customer requirements, solution scoping, network design considerations, implementation planning, and service delivery documentation to ensure proposals and commitments are accurate and achievable.
  • Participate in internal planning, share customer feedback, contribute to process improvements, and support a collaborative team environment focused on service responsiveness, successful customer outcomes, and sustainable growth.

Minimum qualifications

  • 8-10 years of business development experience in the high-tech industry, including at least 3 years in IT infrastructure deployment with telecom carrier technology and services, sales development, and/or strategic consulting.
  • Managed service provider (MSP) experience required; hospital/healthcare and municipality/education experience preferred.
  • Essential understanding of telecommunications, colocation, and network security services.
  • Proven direct sales ability to meet sales metrics, including pipeline growth, sales activity KPIs, conversion ratios, and revenue growth.
  • Strong verbal and written communication plus analytical skills; proven leadership; superior negotiation and relationship management skills; ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience managing complex technical accounts, including building and maintaining relationships with key decision makers and negotiating solutions with peers, partners, and customers.
  • Effective leader with a strong work ethic and desire to guide and develop talent within the team.
  • Critical thinking and comfort operating in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary, team-oriented environment.
