Business Development Director
Job Description
Lead business development for early and late phase clinical trial services with a focus on building relationships and driving new revenue.
Responsibilities
- Direct business development activities to grow sales to new clients, covering the full cycle from identification through contract award
- Drive new business acquisition with a USD 10 million target in the first year
- Identify and close opportunities aligned with Novum’s business model and strategic objectives
- Actively acquire new clients for future pipeline and build new relationships
- Own proposal execution support by responding to and following up on timely requests for proposals
- Partner with the proposals team and management to evaluate progress toward new business development and corporate revenue goals
- Collaborate with senior Novum management to shape strategies and define short- and long-term growth objectives
- Work with marketing and operations to identify target markets, services, and specific clients that match company capabilities
- Manage bid defense meetings, with selected members of the operations team
- Create agendas, sales reports, and conduct regular business development meetings with Novum management
- Coordinate with the accounting department to project backlog and pipeline
- Meet with clients periodically to maintain and improve relationships
- Arrange meetings for senior management as needed to support closing projects with new clients and strengthen existing relationships
- Coordinate with Marketing on annual conference attendance and an editorial calendar for website content
Client Opportunity Focus
- Identify and close opportunities in North America
- Primary focus on Phase-1 studies with NCE and Biosimilar studies in healthy volunteers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in a scientific discipline
- 2 years business development experience in a CRO
- Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role
- Proven sales and marketing skills with a thorough understanding of industry trends
- Established contacts in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Solid understanding of the clinical development process
- Ability to travel up to 2 weeks per month; some international travel may be required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
