Job Description

Onward Search is seeking a permanent Business Development Manager to help a leading Am Law firm grow its corporate practice through targeted marketing and strategic business development efforts. This hybrid role is based in Chicago, with on-site presence 3-4 days per week, and opportunities to support initiatives in markets such as Chicago, Dallas, and New York. A background in an Am Law environment is essential to collaborate effectively with partners, attorneys, and marketing colleagues.

  • Salary: USD 135,000 - 155,000 per year
  • Minimum experience: 7 years

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive proposal and RFP responses, guiding team members on persuasive content creation.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and internal teams to implement key business development initiatives.
  • Assist in onboarding and integrating lateral hires in coordination with talent and development teams.
  • Manage submissions for legal directories and awards, working closely with attorneys and marketing colleagues.
  • Support strategic planning efforts and drive business development projects aligned with broader firm objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a field emphasizing research, strategic planning, marketing, or business development.
  • Minimum of 7 years in marketing or business development, with some direct BD experience at another Am Law firm.
  • Proven experience with corporate practice areas such as capital markets, public companies, funds, or real estate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, credible presence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, CRM, and marketing automation tools.
