Job Description

The Business Development Specialist, Finance supports marketing and business development efforts across Finance, Tax, and Restructuring. The role collaborates with team members and reports to the Business Development Manager to implement initiatives and cross-practice programs. This onsite position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a salary range of USD 102,000 to 121,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the firm’s Staff Development Framework standards for Professional Excellence, Client Focus, and Leadership & Professionalism.
  • Provide feedback on the performance of the BD Coordinator to the manager.
  • Partner with the Manager to assemble all materials required for pre-arrival packets.
  • Assist in implementing integration plan initiatives.
  • Participate in day-to-day delivery of business development services for assigned practices.
  • Support the execution of strategic planning initiatives when requested.
  • Assist with development of rankings and directory submissions, including referee lists, and maintain related content.
  • Experience with directories such as Chambers USA and Legal 500 is preferred.
  • Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the firm’s experience system, including inputting revised or new content and deal-specific metrics.
  • Update or add experience records as requested, including information from completed directory and ranking submissions.
  • Track pitch and proposal activity within the experience system.
  • Assist in developing proposal materials and RFP responses; create routine pitch materials for assigned practices.
  • Collaborate with brand marketing to develop and maintain print collateral and electronic content, ensuring messaging and visual storytelling are consistent.
  • With guidance from the Manager, coordinate with attorneys on CLE presentations, client briefings, blogs, and newsletters, focusing on content development and distribution lists.
  • Coordinate logistics for firm produced events and conference sponsorships, including follow up and ROI analysis with support from the BD Coordinator and event team.
  • Update and add experience reports to the database for assigned practices and monitor BD expenses against budget, correcting misclassified items as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling, logistics, and materials for regular and special practice meetings, including agenda preparation as assigned.
  • Support multi-channel marketing strategies and initiatives for the assigned practices.
  • Occasionally assist with regional or office activities, including local events, booth setups, and on-site logistical support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years of business development, sales, marketing, or writing experience in a law firm.
  • Must reside within a commutable distance to a firm office with the ability to come into the office 3 to 4 days per week.

Competencies

  • Experience preparing proposal responses, pitch materials, presentations, and related materials is a plus.

  • Familiarity with CRM, information systems, and database concepts is a plus.
  • Creative, resourceful, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including editing capabilities.
  • Proactive and confident approach to work.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and prioritize tasks with enthusiasm.
  • Strong collaboration skills across all levels of the organization.
