Director, Business Development, Search & Evaluation
Job Description
This role in Wilmington, DE supports Incyte’s business development efforts by driving scientific evaluation, diligence, and opportunity valuation for licensing and acquisition targets.
Responsibilities
- Source pharmaceutical licensing and acquisition opportunities in strategic therapeutic areas, including oncology, hematology, and dermatology
- Perform deep scientific review of preclinical and clinical data, including:
- Outlining development timing
- Summarizing evidence in the context of the competitive landscape
- Coordinate scientific diligence teams made up of functional area experts across in-licensing opportunities
- Serve as the interface between project teams and executive leadership
- Help design potential collaboration structures and determine the associated financial consideration
- Support negotiation of term sheets and definitive agreements
- Lead end-to-end creation of comprehensive opportunity assessments, including:
- Scientific data analysis
- Development plan outlines
- Market dynamics and competitive landscape analysis
- Primary and secondary research findings
- Target product profile and future product positioning
- Revenue forecasts and financial models to assess net present value
- Maintain a deep working knowledge of oncology, hematology, and dermatology
- Participate in scientific and trade conferences
Requirements
- Advanced science degree (M.S., R.Ph., Pharm.D., M.D., Ph.D.) and MBA, or advanced finance experience
- 4+ years of related equity research, consulting, or industry experience in pharma/biotech with a record of accomplishment in business development
- Oncology expertise is required
- Proficiency building opportunity assessments and presentations that integrate research findings and support business recommendations
- Experience creating revenue forecasts and financial valuation models
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to align internal stakeholders and represent Incyte externally as a partner-of-choice
- Candidates with an analytical background, demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong understanding of pharmacology will be preferred
Reporting and visibility: Reports to the Division Vice President & Head of Business Development; presents analyses to internal and senior management.
