Director of Business Development
Job Description
The Director of Business Development leads growth for Will Power Excavation's heavy civil construction initiatives, actively cultivating relationships with developers, engineers, municipalities, utility providers, general contractors, cities and counties; reports to the Chief Estimator and Owner.
Responsibilities
- Attend zoning, planning commission, redevelopment commission, city council, utility board, and county commissioner meetings.
- Monitor municipal agendas, comprehensive plans, capital improvement plans, and utility master plans.
- Track private developments from concept through bidding.
- Strengthen relationships with long-standing clients and key accounts.
- Maintain a pipeline of future public and private opportunities 3 to 24 months before bidding.
- Build and nurture connections with engineering firms, developers, municipal officials, utility districts, general contractors, and economic development organizations.
- Conduct regular visits and meetings with decision makers among future and existing clients.
- Identify projects before public advertisement and communicate potential letting dates to estimating.
- Maintain a database of upcoming, current, and prospective clients.
- Collaborate with the estimating department to improve bid feedback.
- Assist with pre-qualification submissions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in heavy civil, site development, engineering, utility, or infrastructure sectors.
- Established network with engineers, developers, municipalities, and utility providers.
- Ability to read civil plans and specifications.
- Strong communication and networking skills.
- Background as a civil engineer, project manager, estimator, municipal official, or developer representative.
- Experience with Building Connected, AGTEK, and HCSS software.

Salary and Benefits
- Salary: USD 95,000 - 110,000 per year.
