Job Description

CalPortland is hiring a Sales Manager to lead ready mix concrete sales in San Jose, CA. This role focuses on building and executing a market sales strategy, directing a sales team, and driving profitability and growth through customer expansion and market share initiatives.

Compensation for this position is $180,000 to $200,000 per year (DOE), with an onsite work location.

What you’ll do

Develop and execute a business plan and sales strategy for the market to achieve company sales goals and profitability.
Motivate, manage performance, and support development of the sales team.
Create action plans for individuals and the team to pursue sales leads and prospects effectively.
Initiate and coordinate action plans to penetrate new markets.
Assist with development and implementation of company-wide marketing plans as needed.
Build and maintain customer relationships across the market area, using the sales group and other team members to support high customer satisfaction.
Provide timely feedback to senior management on sales performance, market analysis, competitor pricing, and other market factors impacting results.
Deliver timely, accurate, competitive pricing for completed prospect applications submitted for pricing and approval, while working to maintain maximum profit margins; keep accurate records of all pricing, sales, and activity reports.
Prepare and monitor annual sales budgets related to anticipated volumes and pricing.
Prepare and monitor annual sales team cost budgets and control expenses to remain within budget guidelines.
Follow company policies, procedures, and business ethics, and ensure they are communicated and implemented within the team.
Collaborate with other department managers within the division as required and appropriate.

What you bring

10+ years of sales management experience, preferably in the construction materials industry.
Proven leadership with the ability to drive sales teams.
Strong communication, motivation, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
Strategic thinking and the ability to track sales performance and market trends.
Familiarity with economic and accounting principles and practices.
Strong analytical skills.
