Director of Business Development
Job Description
Lead growth initiatives for a construction organization by building revenue streams, strengthening customer relationships, and improving profitability through targeted sales and market execution.
Responsibilities
- Implement sales strategy and revenue-focused initiatives aligned to company objectives
- Generate revenue and increase organizational profitability through planned sales initiatives and marketing activities
- Work with the VP of Sales and Preconstruction to create and oversee execution of revenue streams for future profitable growth
- Collaborate closely with the VP to deliver the company’s regional sales strategy
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers, including internal department heads and team members
- Develop and execute a Market Strategy that leverages organizational strengths
- Assess competitive advantages and identify new markets supporting sustainable growth
- Operate as a self-driven individual focused on achieving company performance goals and sales targets
- Maintain a minimum of 50% travel within the assigned territory
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience developing and managing new business in the construction industry, specifically within the Pulp and Paper and Power sectors
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, or Engineering; additional years of experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree
- Advanced knowledge of competencies required for essential functions, including: Customer Focus; Business Acumen; Time Management; Negotiating; Integrity and Trust; Listening; Perseverance; Presentation skills; Decision Quality; Drive for Results
- Business development experience in the Industrial Construction Industry, including knowledge of building concepts and principles
- Public speaking and presentation skills
- Experience with frequent use of CRM Systems and Microsoft tools (MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
- Experience using Concur Software for expenses and other software (training provided)
- Clean driving record required due to required road travel
- Current and valid driver’s license required
- Background check required as part of onboarding
Reporting Line
- Reports to: VP of Sales and Preconstruction
Work Environment
- Frequent out-of-state travel by air and road as needed
- Work is generally indoors, with frequent travel for meetings with customers and business associates
- Travel is regular and frequent
