Director Strategy and Business Development
Job Description
Director Strategy and Business Development supports enterprise-wide strategy, analytics, and business development planning to help advance UAB Health System goals.
Responsibilities
- Support leadership with the development and evaluation of new and existing programs and services
- Conduct market assessment to understand UAB Health System’s current position and identify growth opportunities
- Analyze inpatient and outpatient data to evaluate market demand and competitive conditions
- Provide decision support and recommendations to executive leadership for new service development using business intelligence data points, including population and demographics, physician-to-population projections, anticipated demand, patient origin, utilization trends, payer mix, and market share dynamics
- Use data from multiple software programs and database applications to inform strategic direction
- Complete due diligence, financial modeling, and scenario analysis for business development opportunities
- Track key performance indicators against organizational benchmark targets of success
- Stay current on healthcare planning issues and evolving market conditions, then communicate insights to key stakeholders
- Coordinate and facilitate creation and compilation of strategic business plans for existing and proposed services and programs prioritized by UAB Health System
- Present analyses, findings, and strategic insights to stakeholder groups
- Participate in continuing professional education and share relevant knowledge with strategic planning staff
- May have direct managerial responsibilities for strategic planning team members
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Health or Business Administration required
- Minimum 7 years of relevant planning or business development experience required
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Strong analytical capability
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to apply creativity when analyzing and solving complex challenges
- Ability to evaluate, synthesize, and connect information to support problem-solving and recommendations
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated team player
- High degree of self-direction and self-motivation
- Ability to mentor and support staff development needs
- Comfortable working in a remote work environment
