Job Description

LAIRD NOLLER AUTOMOTIVE INC is hiring an experienced General Sales Manager to oversee daily sales operations and drive dealership performance in Lawrence, KS.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, train, and hold the sales team accountable
  • Drive new and pre-owned vehicle sales volume
  • Structure and desk deals while balancing gross, volume, and customer experience
  • Monitor day-to-day, weekly, and monthly sales performance
  • Set individual and department goals and ensure follow-through
  • Run effective daily sales meetings
  • Manage CRM activity, including lead response, appointments, follow-up, and closing performance
  • Track traffic, closing ratios, lead sources, and salesperson productivity
  • Ensure every opportunity is properly worked and followed up
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop sales professionals
  • Partner with Finance to improve deal flow, profitability, product penetration, and funding
  • Support inventory management including aging, pricing, merchandising, and turn
  • Review trades and support vehicle appraisals
  • Identify aged inventory and develop strategies to move it
  • Maintain strong relationships with lenders, vendors, and manufacturer representatives as appropriate
  • Ensure dealership and manufacturer processes are followed
  • Maintain high standards for compliance, documentation, and customer treatment
  • Address customer concerns quickly and professionally
  • Collaborate with Fixed Operations, Accounting, Marketing, and executive leadership
  • Help develop advertising, sales events, inventory strategies, and monthly sales plans
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to executive leadership
  • Create a culture focused on urgency, accountability, teamwork, and performance

Requirements

  • Automotive sales management experience
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a sales team
  • Understanding of dealership financials and how volume, gross, expenses, and net profitability connect
  • Ability to desk and close deals effectively
  • Understanding of both new and used vehicle operations
  • Comfort managing inventory and aging
  • Knowledge of CRM processes and lead management
  • Ability to use numbers and reporting to manage performance
  • Capable of holding people accountable while maintaining a positive culture
  • Strong communication skills with employees, customers, and executive leadership
  • Competitive, organized, energetic, and results-driven
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems without constant direction
  • Willingness to lead from the front and jump in wherever needed
  • Physical ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate computers, phones, and other office equipment
  • Ability to move throughout the showroom, sales offices, dealership property, and vehicle inventory areas during the workday
  • Ability to enter and exit passenger vehicles, SUVs, and trucks
  • Occasionally bend, stoop, reach, crouch, or kneel while inspecting or evaluating vehicles
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or move items up to approximately 25 pounds
  • Safely operate motor vehicles as required for vehicle appraisals, inventory movement, customer assistance, or other dealership business
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors and tolerate varying weather conditions when inspecting vehicles or working on dealership lots
  • Maintain visual and auditory ability necessary to perform job duties and communicate effectively
  • Must be able to pass drug screen, background check, and MVR

Compensation

  • Salary range: USD 10,000 - 20,000 per yearly
