Job Description
Core & Main seeks a Senior Director, Business Development for Large Capital Projects to architect and drive enterprise-wide sales strategies that influence early project stages, foster long-term revenue growth, and strengthen market positioning on complex capital programs. The role leads cross-functional collaboration to integrate design-phase market intelligence, pursuit planning, and supplier partnerships into a cohesive project strategy. This on-site position is based in Missouri and requires a BS/BA in a related discipline.
Responsibilities
- Lead the national strategy for large capital projects with a focus on the total addressable market, guiding discovery, pursuit, and delivery from early concept through completion.
- Establish and nurture executive-level relationships with general contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and owners to secure early project visibility and influence.
- Initiate early engagement in the design phase through market intelligence, customer relationships, and proactive opportunity identification.
- Drive disciplined project pursuit by coordinating sales, estimating, supply chain, logistics, and execution teams.
- Shape specifications, sourcing approaches, and solution design ahead of formal bid cycles to enhance win potential.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across sales, operations, supply chain, and product teams to advance growth initiatives and meet business objectives.
- Oversee strategic supplier partnerships and diversity programs to expand capacity, capability, and opportunity.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators, manage the project pipeline and funnel performance, and provide data-driven updates to executive leadership.
- Direct the overall business strategy and execution for growth initiatives, including targets for sales, margin, and profitability.
- Identify and pursue new growth opportunities, owning resource planning, operating and capital investment decisions, and P&L performance where applicable.
- Communicate strategic priorities across the organization and align efforts to balance enterprise needs with growth objectives.
- Provide regular executive-level updates on performance, including key results, risks, and corrective actions.
Requirements
- Senior-level leadership experience in strategic sales or enterprise business development.
- Proven success leading national or enterprise initiatives tied to large capital projects.
- Deep understanding of construction, infrastructure, or industrial project lifecycles.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence early-stage decisions.
