Job Description
The Store Sales Manager oversees the store vision and initiatives, driving sales across multiple units while managing merchandising and omni-channel experiences. The position also emphasizes coaching a high-performing team to deliver a customer-centered store environment, with a focus on talent development, workforce management, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of Mattress Firm's vision and company initiatives, achieving sales targets by ensuring in-store merchandising across multiple units is executed and by holding associates accountable for results.
- Drive selling programs and related KPI outcomes across several stores while supporting the omni-channel experience.
- Foster a customer-centric environment and create an engaging experience for MFRM team members.
- Act as an effective coach to develop associates' skills and performance, cultivating a collaborative and motivated team focused on success.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings to understand team motivations and personal and professional aspirations.
- Develop a comprehensive team bio book that evolves with the team to reflect new insights and knowledge.
- Schedule 30-60-90 day check-ins with new team members to review progress and opportunities.
- Perform workforce management activities, including staffing schedules and punch reconciliation, with support from the Operations team and tools.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, appearance standards, functionality requirements, and state regulations.
- Represent the company brand professionally in all internal and external interactions.
- Follow procedures for product transfers to document inventory accurately.
- Plan strategically and analyze provided reporting to determine appropriate staffing levels, adjusting with leadership as needed.
- Provide technical and product knowledge to associates and customers as a subject matter expert.
- Identify skill gaps through data analysis and address them via targeted coaching.
- Achieve or exceed individual store financial targets through effective execution and customer service.
- Ensure proper store execution of product merchandising, marketing, and POP standards.
- Collaborate with Marketing to plan, implement, and monitor the store’s social media strategy to boost brand awareness and sales.
- Oversee timely opening and closing procedures and manage stock inventory levels for the store.
- Review merchandise flow to ensure stock accuracy and integrity.
- Follow cash handling procedures, including payments processing and deposits.
- Adhere to sales processing policies to ensure proper customer invoicing.
- Ability to stand or sit for 8+ hours at a time.
- Execute company initiatives and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Monitor competitive activity, advertisements, and services to develop counter-strategies.
- Conduct store-level inventory processes and investigate discrepancies, partnering with leadership and corporate as needed.
- Lift, push, or pull 50+ pounds.
Requirements
- Ability to stand or sit for 8+ hours at a time.

- Experience conducting workforce management activities (store staffing schedules, punch reconciliation, etc.), utilizing Operations team support and tools.

- Experience partnering with marketing to plan, implement, and monitor social media strategies to support brand and sales.
- Experience managing stock inventory levels and merchandise flow.
