Automotive Sales Manager
Job Description
The Automotive Sales Manager will lead the high-volume Chevrolet and Toyota new and used vehicle operations at Okoboji Motor Company. This onsite role in Spirit Lake, IA emphasizes profitability, CRM accountability, and talent development, and requires at least 3 years of automotive dealership sales management experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of Automotive Sales Consultants and BDC staff.
- Structure deals and transactions to optimize gross profit.
- Track front-end gross, backend penetration, and overall sales KPIs.
- Establish daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.
- Monitor closing ratios, CSI, appointment metrics, and lead conversion rates.
- Enforce accountability through standardized follow-up processes.
- Collaborate with the General Manager on inventory strategy for new and used vehicles.
- Assess aging inventory and adjust pricing strategies accordingly.
- Forecast monthly volume and implement action plans to close performance gaps.
- Oversee pricing, trade evaluations, and deal structuring.
- Manage CRM usage and enforce disciplined follow-up routines.
- Improve responses to internet leads and increase appointment setting ratios.
- Maintain consistent engagement with phone, internet, and showroom traffic.
- Collaborate with marketing and digital channels to generate leads.
- Provide training and mentorship on product knowledge, handling objections, and closing techniques.
- Lead regular sales meetings and performance reviews.
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and developing top sales talent.
- Cultivate a culture of professionalism, urgency, and superior customer experience.
Requirements
- Minimum three years of automotive dealership sales management experience (examples: Sales Manager, Desk Manager, General Sales Manager, or Used Car Manager).
- Proven track record of increasing dealership revenue and gross profit.
- Experience overseeing both new and used vehicle departments preferred.
- Solid understanding of F&I collaboration and deal flow.
- Proficiency with CRM and desking software is required.
- Data-driven decision maker with strong analytical capabilities.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
