Job Description

Join JHB Sports and help expand the company’s footprint across the Midwest sports construction market. This full-time, in-person role is based in St. Louis, MO and focuses on business growth through strategic relationships, early project identification, and a consistent pipeline of opportunities across multiple athletic facility capabilities.

What you’ll do

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities involving synthetic turf, natural grass fields, running tracks, athletic lighting, post-tension courts, and athletic facility construction.
  • Develop and execute a Midwest territory business development plan.
  • Generate qualified leads and maintain a consistent pipeline of construction opportunities.
  • Spot projects during early planning, budgeting, and design phases.
  • Build relationships with owners and decision-makers before projects move into competitive bidding.
  • Manage the sales process from prospecting through proposal development, contract negotiation, and project award.
  • Develop connections with schools, universities, municipalities, sports organizations, athletic directors, facility owners, and other decision-makers.
  • Create partnerships with architects, engineers, general contractors, consultants, manufacturers, and suppliers.
  • Monitor public and private bids, capital improvement plans, and athletic facility development programs.
  • Conduct client meetings, site visits, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to build competitive proposals and identify value-engineering opportunities.
  • Maintain customer relationships to drive repeat business and referrals.
  • Track opportunities, anticipated bid dates, budgets, and projected contract values in CRM software.
  • Set and achieve annual business development goals.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and pipeline updates to company leadership.
  • Represent JHB Sports at industry conferences and networking events.

What you bring

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in sports construction, athletic facility construction, synthetic turf, or closely related construction business development.
  • Proven success generating new business and securing construction projects.
  • A strong understanding of sports construction and athletic facility development.
  • Experience building relationships with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and other industry professionals.
  • Ability to identify opportunities early in the planning and design process.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Capability to manage multiple opportunities and extended sales cycles independently.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and standard business applications.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, plus a valid driver’s license.

Compensation and benefits

  • Employment type: Full-Time

  • Base pay: From $1.00 per year

Preferred qualifications

  • Established relationships in sports construction and athletic facility industry.
  • Experience with a turf manufacturer, sports field contractor, specialty contractor, or athletic facility construction company.
  • Experience securing projects involving synthetic turf, field construction, running tracks, sports lighting, post-tension courts, or other athletic facilities.
  • Knowledge of site preparation, earthwork, drainage, aggregate base construction, and synthetic turf installation.
  • Familiarity with public procurement, competitive bidding, design-build, negotiated work, and construction contract negotiations.
  • Existing relationships with Midwest school districts, universities, municipalities, architects, and engineers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
