Business Development Specialist
Job Description
Drive profitable growth at Berkley by supporting business development, marketing initiatives, and customer and distribution relationships.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to gather information, evaluate opportunities, and support account renewal and pricing strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with existing customers, agents, brokers, and prospective clients to support profitable growth objectives.
- Analyze business portfolios, market opportunities, and production results to identify growth and profitability trends.
- Promote additional products, coverages, and programs to existing customers and distribution partners to support retention and premium growth.
- Support onboarding, transfer, and ongoing management of agency, broker, and customer relationships.
- Prepare reports and presentations covering business performance, market conditions, and growth opportunities.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support strategic business development and marketing initiatives.
- Represent the organization at industry events, networking functions, trade shows, and customer meetings.
- Conduct market research and networking activities to identify industry trends, customer needs, and competitive opportunities.
- Create and distribute marketing content, including newsletters, promotional materials, website content, social media posts, and business communications.
- Develop and execute marketing initiatives across multiple channels such as digital, print, email, and social media.
- Monitor and analyze marketing performance metrics including prospect activity, hit ratios, retention results, and new business production.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of experience in Property Casualty or Commercial Lines
- Insurance Designations preferred
- Established broker and retailer relationships preferred
- Demonstrated history generating significant new business growth and expanding distribution networks
- Experience using CRM platforms, sales analytics tools, and AI driven technologies to support business development strategies
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and business intelligence tools
- Ability to perform in both independent work and highly collaborative environments

Compensation and Benefits
- Base Salary: USD $70,000 - $90,000 per year
