Job Description

Hydro-Gear seeks a Director of Business Development & Marketing to lead market intelligence, product vision, and business development, reporting to the VP of Sales & Marketing and guiding a small cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic market research to identify new markets, applications, products, and customer segments.
  • Translate data and customer input into actionable product, pricing, and go-to-market strategies that address problems and drive revenue.
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Sales to shape the product roadmap and serve as a primary decision-maker on development priorities.
  • Own the value proposition and messaging for key product lines, ensuring clear, differentiated positioning across channels.
  • Build and mentor a high-impact team across branding, business development, and market intelligence; maintain alignment with Sales.
  • Drive multi-channel execution including trade shows, events, digital initiatives, content, and sales enablement with measurable impact.
  • Present market trends, competitive landscape, strategy, and performance to senior leadership and the Board.

Requirements

  • Solid foundation in B2B marketing and market research, ideally within industrial, manufacturing, or engineered products.
  • Experience in product management, portfolio leadership, or ownership of a commercial product line.
  • Proven ability to analyze markets, trends, and customer behavior and translate findings into strategy.
  • History of converting customer problems into defined solutions, business cases, and go-to-market plans.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional teams.

Type and location

  • Onsite position based in Indianapolis, IN or Franklin, TN; remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.

What to expect

  • Travel approximately 30 to 40 percent for customer visits, market assessments, trade shows, and key internal meetings.
  • High visibility with senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Direct influence on product strategy, market direction, and the long-term company plan.
