Experienced Retail Sales Manager
Job Description
STU’S HOME IMPROVEMENT OUTLET is seeking an Experienced Retail Sales Manager to lead a showroom sales team focused on high-ticket home improvement products in a commission-based retail environment. This role combines day-to-day leadership, coaching, and hands-on support on complex deals, with compensation built around base pay plus override commission tied to team performance.
Role Overview
You will oversee daily showroom sales operations, set clear expectations for your team, and drive performance through coaching and consistent accountability to sales numbers. When high-value opportunities require extra guidance, you will step in personally to support the closing process. Compensation includes a base salary plus override commission connected to overall team results.
Responsibilities
- Run day-to-day performance by setting clear expectations and coaching reps on engagement, presentation, follow-up, and closing.
- Hold team members accountable to their numbers while maintaining a positive, productive sales floor experience.
- Track activity, appointments, and results to identify where deals stall and where adjustments are needed.
- Step into complex or high-value sales when a rep needs backup to move a deal forward.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of the showroom team.
- Shape sales strategy that improves performance across the floor, not only at the individual top level.
Requirements
- 2+ years of selling high-ticket products or services, including experience such as furniture, autos, appliances, windows and doors, flooring, roofing, remodeling, building materials, or similar.
- Management experience in a commission-based retail environment is required.
- Experience leading or managing a commission-based sales team, ideally in a high-ticket retail or showroom setting.
- Proven ability to coach reps, track performance, set expectations, and guide a team to meet goals.
- Strong closing ability and comfort stepping into high-value sales while modeling the process.
- Strong organization to manage multiple priorities and the ability to read performance metrics; steady leadership by example.
- Valid driver’s license, authorization to work in the U.S., and ability to work full-time onsite.
Compensation
- Base salary plus override commission tied to team performance.
- Expected annual earnings: $125,000 to $225,000.
Why STU’S
- Real base plus commission tied to team results so you are compensated based on the floor you build.
- Warm showroom traffic supports a selling environment where reps can focus on closing, and the manager focuses on coaching instead of prospecting.
- A team of experienced, high-ticket sellers to develop rather than rebuild from scratch.
- Direct impact on outcomes with a clear path to grow your leadership career.
- A culture that values accountability and sales performance.
