Sales Development Program Sales Associate - Fluid Solutions

Job Description

United Rentals' Fluid Solutions team is looking for a Sales Development Program Sales Associate to join our Baltimore, MD onsite program. This role follows a structured training track designed to prepare you for an Outside Sales Representative position, with exposure to outbound campaigns and mastery of essential sales tools. Compensation ranges from $32 to $46 per hour and a bachelor’s degree is required.

Responsibilities

  • Begin the program at a local branch, shadowing sales and operations to gain a comprehensive view of the equipment rental lifecycle.
  • Participate in a North American digital onboarding class that strengthens sales techniques and builds a collaborative internal network.
  • Engage in outbound sales campaigns that expose you to multiple construction verticals, different customer spend levels, general and specialty equipment rentals, and both new and existing customer segments.
  • Master core United Rentals tools, including the CRM, inventory management platforms, the customer portal, and mobile applications.
  • Lead high level sales conversations covering price negotiations, multi-piece rental requests, government and educational contracts, service agreements, and the sale of used equipment at end of rental life.
  • Learn proven sales methodologies to deliver customer solutions and drive revenue growth.
  • Participate in local team initiatives such as safety huddles, customer appreciation events, equipment yard sale events, customer entertainment outings, charity drives, and 1UR internal workshops.
  • Track progress through multiple achievement levels with real-time sales performance metrics and weekly peer-ranked competitions.
  • Receive daily feedback from corporate and local leadership, including call coaching and ride-alongs to jobsites, and develop sales strategies and realistic timelines for your accounts.
  • Typically, the Sales Development Program lasts 4-6 months before promotion to an Outside Sales Representative, with timing depending on market conditions and individual performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in a customer-facing sales role preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Proficient computer and mobile device skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Training: must live within reasonable driving distance of the assigned branch and report on-site Monday through Friday.
