Job Description
Entry-level Sales Associate in United Rentals Fluid Solutions SDP, onsite in Swedesboro, NJ, designed to prepare you for an Outside Sales Representative role.
Responsibilities
- Begin training at a local branch, shadowing both sales and operational roles to gain an inside-out understanding of the full equipment rental lifecycle.
- Join a North America wide digital onboarding class to sharpen sales techniques and build a collaborative internal support network.
- Engage in outbound sales campaigns exposing you to different construction verticals, varying customer spend levels, general versus specialty equipment rentals, and both new and existing customer segments.
- Master key United Rentals sales tools, including the CRM, inventory management platforms, customer portal, and mobile applications.
- Lead high level sales conversations covering price negotiations, multi-piece rental requests, government and educational agreements, equipment service contracts, and the sale of used equipment at the end of rental life.
- Learn proven sales methodologies to deliver customer solutions and drive revenue growth.
- Participate in local team initiatives such as daily safety huddles, customer appreciation events, equipment yard sale events, customer entertainment outings, charity drives, and internal workshops.
- Track Sales Development progress through achievement levels with real-time performance metrics and weekly peer ranked competitions.
- Receive daily feedback from corporate and local leadership meetings, call coaching sessions, and ride-alongs to local jobsites; contribute by developing sales strategies and realistic timelines for goals.
- The average SDP duration is 4-6 months before promotion to an Outside Sales Representative, depending on market conditions and individual performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience in a customer-facing sales role preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities
- Proficient computer and mobile device skills
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Training: must live within a reasonable driving distance of the assigned branch and report on-site M-F
