Join Mayer Brown LLP in Houston for an onsite role that centers on shaping and executing energy focused business development and marketing initiatives. You will collaborate with lawyers and leadership to drive client growth and strengthen market positioning, coordinating across offices and practices. Responsibilities

  • Assist and support the business development team and lawyers in executing business plans and client strategies, and track progress against those plans
  • Share successes and best practices across the firm to ensure coordinated support and leverage learnings from all groups and offices
  • Support thought leadership and related offerings, including project management and data mining for business development opportunities; ensure strong internal and external distribution
  • Coordinate direct marketing and BD programs such as podcasts, videos, seminars, sponsorships, and events; handle logistics and communications including invites and RSVPs
  • Support research, data collection, and analysis, directory submissions, matter coding, economic reporting, intranet content, and internal meeting support
  • Collect energy matter data globally and maintain the matter database to ensure data quality and availability firm-wide
  • Develop and maintain industry survey and directory ranking content; respond to survey and submission requests
  • Track global pipeline activities and conduct research, competitive intelligence, and strategic planning to identify speaking opportunities
  • Periodically review lawyers’ bios and practice descriptions to keep them current
  • Leverage the Firm’s InterAction CRM for BD tasks such as pulling activity reports and managing contact lists
  • Support the development and tailoring of proposals and client presentations; gather materials, draft language, edit, proofread, and help meet deadlines
  • Develop and maintain group marketing content, including brochures, presentations, website/blog content, social posts, and biographies
  • Provide support for Houston office seminars, sponsorships, and other initiatives as needed
  • Manage projects and processes with independent work and limited supervision
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior department members
  • Ensure design processes and firm policies related to graphic design are understood by stakeholders
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support firm goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, English, or a related field requiring analytical and advanced writing and research skills
  • Six years of experience in business development, marketing, and/or research within professional services, with a preference for law
  • Demonstrated understanding of the energy market preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience scheduling and participating on professional video conferences
  • Familiarity with research techniques and databases used for competitive intelligence in professional services (for example Manzama, Capital IQ, Mergermarket, LexisNexis, Lexology)
