Role Overview
The Director of Business Development will drive growth across the Architecture, Interior Design, and Procurement studios. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, organized, and relationship-driven, with a focus on identifying and securing new clients and project opportunities. This is a hands-on, autonomous role requiring proactive outreach, community engagement, and the ability to build meaningful relationships with prospective clients. You will be the primary contact throughout the pursuit, collaborating with leadership to maintain a robust sales pipeline and ensure every lead is advanced toward closing. The firm’s leadership and design teams will provide technical clarity and support, while you lead the opportunity to successful contract execution.
Responsibilities
- Independently identify, pursue, and cultivate new client opportunities
- Develop and maintain a self-generated pipeline of qualified residential and commercial project opportunities
- Build relationships with developers, builders, real estate professionals, property owners, business leaders, and community stakeholders
- Conduct outreach through networking, referrals, industry events, community engagement, and direct prospecting
- Lead initial client conversations, discovery meetings, and project qualification discussions
- Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the pursuit, guiding opportunities from first conversation through contract execution
- Clearly communicate Uptic’s value, process, and multidisciplinary capabilities to prospective clients
- Maintain accurate CRM records and regularly report business development activity, pipeline status, and revenue forecasts
- Identify emerging markets, partnership opportunities, and strategic growth initiatives
- Develop and strengthen referral networks with consultants, developers, contractors, brokers, and industry partners
- Represent Uptic at industry events, professional organizations, conferences, and community functions
- Support the refinement of business development systems, sales processes, client onboarding workflows, and pursuit strategies
- Provide market intelligence and client feedback to support strategic decision-making
- Contribute to the ongoing development of Uptic’s brand presence, reputation, and client experience
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business, Marketing, Communications, Architecture, Real Estate, or related field
- 3–7+ years of experience in business development, sales, client relations, professional services, real estate, construction, architecture, or related industry
- Proven success generating new business opportunities through self-directed outreach and relationship development
- Ability to independently build and maintain a sales pipeline; experience with CRM systems and opportunity tracking
- Experience navigating complex, consultative sales processes with multiple stakeholders and long decision timelines
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to earn trust with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, developers, and executives
- Professionalism, sound judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence
- Experience in architecture, engineering, design, consulting, or other professional service firms is a plus
