Job Description
Help expand Tesla Charging by owning new site development end to end for your Charlotte, NC territory. This role is built for autonomy: you’ll identify where charging should go, work through feasibility and approvals, negotiate site host agreements, and ensure a smooth hand-off to Tesla design and installation so construction can move forward. The outcome is straightforward, too: support current and future EV drivers with convenient, high-quality charging experiences.
What you’ll do
- Autonomously manage all phases of new site development to select the best locations for hosting Tesla Charging products within your territory.
- Lead site selection and due diligence, including contract negotiation with site hosts.
- Oversee utility and permitting feasibility studies and support approval efforts with utilities and permitting authorities.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of potential new sites aligned to market goals for serving current and future EV customers.
- Draft, negotiate, and execute site host agreements in partnership with attorneys.
- Coordinate closely with internal deployment, design, and installation colleagues to assess installation costs and timelines, and to ensure efficient project hand-off for construction and close-out.
- Build and maintain relationships across key internal and external deployment stakeholders to keep projects moving.
- Accurately forecast upcoming milestones and document progress throughout the development process.
- Ensure current and future Tesla customers have the best experience at the most convenient charging stations.
What you bring
- Strong negotiation background with proven experience negotiating contracts, real estate, utility planning, charging infrastructure, EV infrastructure policy, and local permitting (strongly preferred).
- High organization and the ability to run 20+ projects simultaneously across different phases without losing track.
- Autonomous, high-drive execution style with a self-motivated, outspoken approach to getting work done.
- Ability to understand site host needs and how Tesla charging integrates with their business goals.
- Strategic listening and persuasive communication across roles and backgrounds, including comfort with stakeholders such as CEOs, facility managers, city planners, marketing managers, and utility planners.
- A proactive mindset to reduce risk and get ahead of issues before they impact timelines.
