Area Sales Manager
Job Description
The Area Sales Manager will grow SPAX market share in the Grand Rapids, MI territory through new business development, distributor partnerships, field activation, and market intelligence to drive revenue growth.
Responsibilities
- Expand the territory by pursuing new business opportunities and broadening channel engagement
- Forge robust relationships with dealers, distributors, and contractors to boost product adoption
- Implement field activation plans such as on site demonstrations, training sessions, and dealer events
- Spot market opportunities and convert insights into concrete growth initiatives
- Enhance SPAX brand visibility and competitive positioning within the professional construction channel
- Deliver timely market intelligence to sales leadership, marketing, and product teams
- Create and implement a territory growth plan aligned with company sales goals
- Seek and pursue new dealer, distributor, and contractor opportunities
- Broaden SPAX brand presence in Lumberyards, STAFDA, building product distributors, and professional building channels
- Cultivate enduring relationships with owners, branch managers, outside sales reps, and counter staff
- Drive profitable sales growth and deepen product penetration across assigned markets
- Strengthen distributor and dealer stocking positions through relationship management and value selling
- Convert contractors and end users through demonstrations, training, and on site engagement
- Support distributor and dealer partners with sales enablement, product education, and field support
- Lead jobsite demonstrations and product training sessions
- Act as a SPAX brand ambassador by communicating performance benefits and installation advantages
- Support regional promotions, product launches, and marketing initiatives
- Represent SPAX at trade shows, industry events, and contractor engagement activities
- Offer feedback on pricing, competitive activity, product needs, and emerging market trends
- Analyze territory performance and identify opportunities to improve market penetration
- Collaborate with leadership and cross functional teams to refine strategies based on market insights
- Keep CRM data up to date, including pipeline activity, customer engagement, and forecasting
- Coordinate with Inside Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Operations to ensure alignment and execution
- Provide regular updates on territory performance, growth initiatives, and market opportunities
- Support initiatives that strengthen channel partnerships and drive long term market growth
- Travel: field based role with regular travel throughout the territory, including jobsite visits, distributor branches, customer meetings, and industry events; typical travel 60 to 75 percent
Territory & Market Development
- Develop and execute a territory growth strategy aligned with company sales objectives
- Identify and pursue new dealer, distributor, and contractor opportunities
- Expand SPAX brand presence within Lumberyards, STAFDA, building product distributors, and professional building channels

Sales Growth & Channel Expansion
